Next meeting

Hi, all!

I am safely back in Vienna. I have enjoyed my stay in Marseille a lot again!

When should we have our next meeting?

We have thought about the third week of July, but it seems Berhard is not here, then. This meeting should be quite soon, as Gwen will stay in Vienna only until the end of september.

When will you be avaiable? Let's say from end of june (week 26) until beginning of august (week 32).

I'm sorry, I've just seen your message! I don't know why but each time I've been logging in on the forum during the last 3 weeks, I was noticed "no new post"...
Well, let's forget it...

Concerning the next meeting I'm free the whole month of July (except on the 7th; we give a show with my band... ). Sophie won't be free the first two weeks (please, correct me if I'm wrong ) but I don't know about the others...

I think we should summerize everybody's availability in this topic and then find a reliable date, ok?!

I'm sorry for my extremely poor participation to the forum lately...
Hope I can use Thibaud's listening tests as an excuse

Anyway, concerning the travel plannings, july-august don't really seem easy. I'm going to the ICMC conference in Copenhagen the
last week of August and will therefore be occupied with preparations
and stuff from the 15th of August. The last week of July I'll go to
Norway, meaning that the only possibility would have been one of the
3 first weeks of July. However, Bernhard doesn't seem to be around the third week of July, meaning that only the first two weeks of
July would be possible... Next week our master students will present their projects, meaning that we should be here for them...
Well, all this probably means that we'll have to plan for some meeting in september/october - a looong time to wait

Some folks are going to the ICA the first week of September, meaning that we should concentrate on the period from around 15th of September till some time in October.

We definitively should decide something now before new events come up and destroy our plans!

I'll keep my calendar clean during that period for the time being, and wait for your reactions and propositions.

I am not avaiable from 16.-23. of september!

But to be honest, in this case we don't really have to rush, because, as I have told you, Gwen is here only until the end of september, and if the meeting will be that late, there will be nearly no influence on his work here.

Still let's try if we can find some date in this period!

So what about the last week of september?

Maybe Thibaud should come earlier (alone) to have some influence and interaction with Gwen? Maybe only for a short visit?

Yes, it should be a good idea that I come alone during summer in order to have interaction with Gwen and help him to calibrate the experiment in Vienna. Now we have to decide when?

Concerning the meeting all together the last week of September I don't know yet if it's ok for me but I'll know it very soon...

I will HAVE to be at the LMA the 17th, so we should avoid this day

I think it would be better for me the first week of october, but I have to be sure that it is OK as well at work (Françoise will start her PhD at that time, I have to check whether I will need to be there at that time) as at home with the family. I'll tell you as soon as possible.

Concerning the "comeback" meeting I see only one constraint for me: I must be in Marseille on the 29th of September. But, as it's a Saturday, it should not be a big problem. So, the last week of September and the first week of October are ok for me

Nearer in time now, I suggest I come alone in Vienna on the fourth week of July, as Bernhard will not be here during the third week. Otherwise, will your Institute be opened in August?
We should plan this travel as soon as possible so that I can get cheaper tickets...

Let's fix it at the beginning of next week!

The institute is open in August!

For me personally August would be far better. In July I have a guest from Argentinia. In the last week of July we have most certainly still a lot to do!

I could only meet with you for approx. 2-4 hours in this week. (Working hours, socializing is something different )

If the main topics are the experiments and the program, this should be okay, as the main cooperation will then be with Berhard and Gwen.

I understand too. But I could be fixed if I am free or not at the end of september by mid of september because of family logistics. So one possiblility is that you plan to go to Vienna the last week of september and I will joint you or not at the last moment.

I will book plane tickets. Concerning hotel I guess I should go back to "Falstaff"; it was perfect last october! Do you think I can book a room by myself (by phone) or somebody has to do it in Vienna?

Try to book the room via phone, if it is not working, we can try again together!

I can also offer you to stay at our house. You would have to buy a train ticket for the week and need a little longer to get to the institute.

I think Metallica played for 2 1/2 hours, only one song from the last three albums. It was a best-of-all-times.......

Especially if you come with Amadée, this will be a good solution for you, as they don't pay for a hotel, you just get a certain amount per day!

When I am back in the office, I will send you the list of hotels I sent out for time-frequency workshop in 2005.

Yes, I think so.

Strangely french people get more money when coming to Austria then the other way around, although living costs are not higher.(In my oppinion it is even the opposite: living costs in France are a little higher.)

Hi Peter,

Thanks a lot for the Hotels list; I'll check which ones are free during the first week of August. Maybe it should be advantageous - in terms of evening activities - that I get a room in the center of Vienna...

Concerning my travel, here are my exact dates and times:

- arrival: Monday, July the 30th at 3:35 p.m.
- departure: Friday, August the 3rd at 1:00 p.m.
